AT ADMISSION
Andrew had a painful, infected sacral wound after the wound VAC (vacuum-assisted closure) dressing was removed. The infection involved pseudomonas aeruginosa and VRE (vancomycin-resistant enterococcus), requiring IV antibiotics, wound care, and physical and occupational therapy.
TREATMENT AT CORNERSTONE
At Cornerstone Specialty Hospitals Little Rock, Andrew received daily wound care, physician monitoring, laboratory testing, and physical and occupational therapy. He also completed IV antibiotic treatment.
OUTCOME
After 27 days, Andrew was discharged home with home health. He was pain-free and excited to reconnect with friends and his community.
