AT ADMISSION
Demetrias was taken to a hospital, where an EKG revealed concern for an acute STEMI (heart attack). Demetrias suffered V-fib arrest requiring CPR and multiple shocks. He also suffered cardiogenic shock and multi-organ failure requiring hemodialysis. He required a tracheostomy and feeding tube.
TREATMENT AT CORNERSTONE
At Cornerstone Specialty Hospitals Little Rock, Demetrias received IV antibiotics, ventilator weaning, tube feeds, and hemodialysis. Physicians, respiratory therapists, dietitians, and physical, occupational, and speech therapists supported his recovery. By the time he was discharged, Demetrias was walking with moderate assistance, was tolerating a regular diet, and had completed the IV antibiotics.
OUTCOME
Demetrias was discharged to an acute inpatient rehabilitation facility after 29 days at Cornerstone. He looked forward to returning to work, family, and friends after further rehab.
