Ella's Success Story

Cornerstone Specialty Hospital patient Ella poses with her care team

After undergoing multiple serious abdominal surgeries, Ella came to Cornerstone Specialty Hospitals Little Rock for advanced wound care. At Cornerstone, her treatment included a feeding tube and negative pressure wound therapy.  By the time of discharge, she was eating again and her wound was almost completely healed.

Ella came to Cornerstone Specialty Hospitals Little Rock, with hopes of healing after undergoing multiple extensive abdominal surgeries. At the time of her admission, she had four surgical drains and an open abdominal wound requiring negative pressure wound therapy. The wound was both painful and significant in size.

Ella was unable to eat by mouth initially and relied on total parenteral nutrition (TPN) for several weeks. Throughout her long recovery, Ella never lost her quick wit and sass. She brought smiles and laughter to the staff daily.

As Ella neared the end of her recovery at Cornerstone, she no longer required negative pressure wound therapy. Her wound had healed significantly, requiring only a simple dressing. She was also down to one drain.

Ella’s recovery journey was truly remarkable. By the time of her discharge, she was eating again and had a craving for pizza and watermelon, so our wound care nurse made sure she got both!

Ella is a true success story, and we’re so proud to have been part of her journey to healing. We wish her and her family all the best as she continues to regain her strength and return to the life she loves.

Care for Complex Conditions

Patients come to our hospitals with serious conditions such as respiratory failure, complex wounds, sepsis, stroke, congestive heart failure, or even a combination of these. Their diagnoses are often complicated by existing health problems like diabetes or COPD. Many of our patients require treatments such as mechanical ventilators, dialysis, or IV therapy.
